Rainbow Goal Ladders

 
This week because it was the first week of school we made goal ladders. Goal ladders are goals you create with steps leading up to the goal. I did this on google draw. Have you done a goal ladder before? If so what did you make it on?

My Pepeha

This term we have been making a Pepeha. My pepeha tell you where I come from, my parents and grandparents names and much more. Comment below if you come from the same place/places.

Reflection on how I did in Basketball

On Monday the 12th of August, my basketball team and I set off to Pioneer Stadium to compete in Canterbury's for basketball because we got through from Zones. We did really well and won 2 games drew 1 game and lost 3 games, I loved the feeling of winning the games we won and I felt slightly disappointed when we lost, but I still had fun and enjoyed the day. I learnt about teamwork and how to get the loose balls and rebounds. I could still improve on working as a team and dribbling the ball. If I could go back and change what happened I would want us to win our games because I know how they play now and work more as a team. The whole team used Resilience when we lost our games showing the true Marshland spirit. Here is a picture of the team.

Eye catching assignments that won't hurt your brain!

This week (and every week!) we have to do two assignments and post it on your blog. I have created a slide that I will put all my assignments each week. Which means A Work In Progress.  Do you have any recommendations of what I can work on? If so please comment.

Do you want fish and chips at school?

Do you want fish and chips at school? Then read this persuasive writing to them about why you should have fish and chips at school on Friday or any day. Also if you don't go to Marshland School you may not get some of the writing but other than that you will be able to relate.

Multiplication Mosaics

 We then traced it on OHT sheets and filed it in with shapes.

And got it printed out and colour coded it with the times' tables.

Then coloured it in.  

Christmas wishes

The last two weeks of this term we have had writing choice and got to pick what we write. I picked a narrative and went on Pobble 365 for inspiration. I picked Christmas wishes because I love Christmas, do you? If you could have one wish for Christmas what would it be?

The Galaxy 

For free writing, we got to write a poem, I made this with Isabella and I put it in google translate in Hawaiian to see what it would come out as. Please comment on what you think of it and check out Isabella's blog as she did hers in a different language.

Up above, far away is where I wish to be today.

The stars they shine, bright through the night, letting off a beautiful light.

The galaxy holds the moons and the planets, a void of space and time.

We don't know why we're here, maybe it was destiny? Does someone in the galaxy have faith in me?

Maybe one day I will take the very first step, and the promise I made will have been kept.

After all, the world has their faith in me.

This week in Maths we had to teach someone how to either add decimals, order decimals or turn decimals into fractions in a screencastify. I choose to do adding decimals. Wonderopolis - Why Do We Call It Breakfast?

Why do we call it breakfast?

We call it breakfast because when we sleep we are fasting, so when we eat food in the morning after you wake up we are breaking the fast. Something I found Surprising about this article is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because I didn't believe what the teachers say! Something I found Interesting about this article is that to fast is go without food and something I found Troubling is the fact that it made me hungry!

Kiwi Kids News - Why We Pay Tax

Why We Pay Tax 

We pay tax to pay for school's, hospitals and other things. We need to be careful about how we spend our money because I don't think people would like it if the government started buying fancy cars for all their friends. But we all would like to pay tax to keep our school's and hospitals open. Something I found Surprising is that the government get millions of dollars a year, something I found Interesting is that 15% of what we pay is GST and something I found Troubling is that the government would even think of buying fancy cars!

My must see book cover on The Explorer

Last week we had to create a book cover in reading for book club. We had to meet the Success Criteria above. The cover is eye-catching because the plane is brightly coloured. I got my information from 2 sites so I know that it is accurate. and the book is about a plane that crashes, hence why the plane is at a weird angle.
